Head, neck, and shoulder base plate

By designing the head and neck positining system, we’re aimed to provide a set of advanced tools which provide the patient with an accurate and high quality radiotherapy, and to accomplish this goal, we seek to create high precision and accuracy in patient’s positioning in fully repeatable daily conditions(modes); it also brings comfort to the patient. This comfort can help the patient sleep at rest and reduce the possibility of moving during the treatment.

By using various combinations of headrest, blocks, and angled wedges, the positioning of the patient’s head comes with different degrees of bending and stretching. The variety in the shape and angle of this tool helps us to choose the best combination in accordance with each patient’s specific anatomy (head and neck size) and the type of radiotherapy technique. In choosing a dedicated set of headrest, blocks and wedges for accurate and repeatable positioning, it is important that the upper part of the head as well as the neck area is in full contact with the headrest, it will be possible with our various products.

Standard baseplate (Carbon fiber and acrylic material)

The standard baseplate made of carbon fiber aims to posture the patient’s head with single- frame thermoplastic masks(U- shaped) or three point Orfit masks. The radiation absorption of the baseplates would be less than one percent of the input radiation and can be disregarded in the calculations of treatment design.

The acrylic sample of the plate has a higher radiation absorption at 6 mega volts energy (absorbing around 2.5 % of the input radiation). To precisely measure the absorption for posterior and posterior oblique fields is of great importance in the calculations of treatment design. Acrylic plates can be used to position the patient’s head during CT simulation while their radiation absorption is not a concern. The aforementioned plates would help for patient simulation in the department of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The angled baseplate (Carbon fiber and acrylic material)

The angled baseplate is made of carbon fiber or flexiglass which is adjustable from 0- 45 degrees. Depending on the patients’ needs, the plates might be used in whole brain radiotherapy or skull base tumors to reduce the amount of radiation reaching healthy organs, such as the eye lens, optic nerve, hippocampus, and parotid glands. These basrplates cam be used along with all single- frame (U- shaped) thermoplastic masks or three-point masks of Orfit company.

Prone Head holder

If radiotherapy in prone position is chosen for the patient ( such as pelvic radiotherapy or radiotherapy of the central nervous system), we recommend the head holder in prone position to provide an accurate, repeatable, and comfortable posture. Being constructed with carbon fiber and acrylic, this system is adjustable for both children and adults, it includes enough space for patients to breathe and anesthesia tubes for children. Two pillows in the chin and forehead are provide patients with comfort in the supine position. This tool, along with acrylic baseplates and thermoplastic masks (U-shaped) can create precise and repeatable positioning for the patients.
